Summerland - Precipitation
The graph below shows Summerland’s cumulative precipitation from January 1 to December 31. Six years are displayed - 2026, 2025, 2024, 2023, 2022, and 2021. The grey thick line is the average cumulative precipitation calculated from 50 years of data from 1951 to 2000. Average total cumulative precipitation for 1951 to 2000 by December 31 is 291 mm. An extreme Summer (June 1 to August 31) drought occurred in 2021 when cumulative precipitation was less than 50% of normal. 2023 also a below-normal year for summer precipitation, is considered the most destructive wildfire season ever recorded in British Columbia. As shown, 2026 is off to a bad start with cumulative precipitation around 39% of the 1951 to 2000 average.
